Having a tour leader who’s not only an expert, but who also brings a sense of fun is hugely important. That’s why we’re so proud of our wonderful guides at Walkabout Florence. Not only do they know their stuff, they know how to show their clients a very good time!
In this post we’d like you to meet Ale whose biggest passions are wine and Italy. Don’t you just love him already?
Ale is our “accidental” tour guide, coming to the profession via journalism and event organisation. As a student of languages (French, Spanish and English) and a genuine people person, he had the perfect readymade skills to succeed. But while he may have fallen into the job by chance, he’s certainly stayed by choice, discovering a deep love of travel, tradition and culture that he just can’t get enough of. Oh, and then there’s the wine…
A qualified sommelier, Ale is an expert on the wine making process and likes nothing more than to share his deep knowledge on our wine tasting day excursions. His own personal collection runs to 200 bottles and counting...
Ale’s favourite part of the job is the experience of meeting new people every day, learning about their countries and having the chance to share the traditions of Italy – along with a glass of wine or two of course!
Life as a tour guide has never a dull moment, and Ale has had to deal with everything from taking care of a plastic chicken mascot, to multiple passengers falling ill on an Adriatic cruise. But whatever his day throws at him, Ale wouldn’t change it for the world.
