Vintage Fiat 500 Tour

Description

TAKE THE WHEEL OF AN ICONIC FIAT CINQUECENTO!

This is your chance to drive one of these historic cars, loved by Italians for over half a century. Follow your tour leader through glorious Tuscan scenery with photo stops along the way and a chance to sample some delicious local food.

Meet your beautifully restored vintage Fiat 500 at its home in a Florence garage, once the stables and coach house of a Florentine Palazzo. You will also meet your tour leader who will introduce you to the secrets of driving a car from the 1960's.

Once you are confident with your Fiat 500, the tour begins! Following the tour leader, and in constant radio contact, we drive through the streets of Florence and in a short time, leaving the city streets behind, we take a cypress tree lined avenue to climb high above the city for some amazing views.

Our first stop is at one of the oldest churches in Florence. There's time for a quick visit inside and a chance to take some great photos with you and your Fiat 500 with the wonderful backdrop of Florence. Then we set off for a panoramic drive into the hills with a radio commentary, along narrow stone walled lanes, past historic villas and fields of olive trees, making short stops to take photos of the wonderful landscape. If you have been riding shotgun, now is your chance to swap places with the driver and have your turn at the wheel!

Next we have the chance to sit on a private terrace with stunning long views to the Tuscan hills, dotted with villas and castles. While we soak up the scenery we can sample some excellent Tuscan cheeses and ham, with a taste of Chianti wine. After more photo opportunities, it's time to start back to Florence, taking the most scenic route back to the city. At last it's back to the riverside to turn some heads as you and your Vintage Fiat 500 become one of the sights of Florence!

We took this tour with Angel. It was the highlight of our trip to Florence. You will experience driving through the countryside and vineyards of Florence. The car was a Fiat500 from the 1970s but very well maintained and easy to handle. We also had a wonderful lunch at one of the vineyards. Thanks Angel! We really enjoyed it.

The back street garage where the tour runs from is almost a work of art in itself with mopeds and an Abarth engine on the walls. The Fiat 500s were a hoot to drive, with a real back to basics feel to them. (You realise how cosseted we are in our modern cars.) The drive through the Tuscan countryside is glorious with a stop at a vineyard (Grape tasting only.) and a restaurant with a fantastic view. on the way back there is a stop at the 'bronze David' with it's beautiful view of the city.

My wife and I found this tour based on trip adviser reviews, and we could not be more happy that we did! Our host Angel made for an incredible experience. He was very knowledgeable about the history in Florence, and he took our group to numerous great locations where we could take pictures and enjoy the historic and natural scenery that Tuscany provides. The highlight of the tour was a trip to a winery where we enjoyed Tuscan wine and cuisine while overlooking the beautiful vineyard. The Fiat 500 was so much fun and easy to drive! If you have the time, I would highly recommend this tour with Angel!

This is a good day tour where you get to either ride a Vespa or drive a Fiat 500. Our guide Angel was fantastic, super knowledgeable and very friendly. We toured an old church and a vinyard both with amazing views. Then had lunch at a stunning Villa. Overall it was a great way to spend a day in Florence. I recommend it.

We fell across this tour by accident. Being a car nut, I was taken in immediately by the Fiat Bambino in the showroom and the Abarth engine mounted on the wall. When they told me about the tour and that I got to drive the lovely old car myself, I just said "shut up and take my money!!" The tour itself was amazing. Alex is a local and very proud of it too. He lead us to wonderful locations all around the city and surrounding countryside. There was no pressure to hurry, happy to explore the various locations at some leisure. Stopped at a local olive grove, learned a lot about the olive industry that I did not know. And then dinner!! OMG dinner!! So simple and delicious, such an amazing view. Oh it was such a delight, the whole afternoon. Florence is gorgeous with so much to see and take in. but next time you are there, you really must take an afternoon for this tour. I went with my two boys and they are still talking about it months later.

We thoroughly enjoyed our drive through the Tuscan hills with our guide Alex leading the way. We were the only car on our tour so we followed a group of Vespers along the winding roads and took in some magical scenery. There were some thrills and spills and interesting sights. Alex was very knowledgeable about the history of the area, being a local himself helped. The lunch was delightful coupled with a luscious red wine and fascinating company from all over the world. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to go outside the square of touring.

Me and my wife chose to take the Fiat 500, while others took the Vespas. Angel, our guide led our group in his own Fiat 500. Driving the Fiat through Florence was a challenge and incredible fun. The trip to the church and vineyards was interesting as Angel made the trip fun, informative and exciting. This was followed by a short trip to our dining destination under a terrace on a hill overlooking a vineyard. We had pasta, appetizers, and of course wine. Met some nice people over dinner. Driving this mini car around was a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks Angel.

Everything about the tour was great. Angel was our tour guide--super engaging, charismatic, genuine, and knowledgeable. Seems like a great company in general. I met a lot of very interesting people, ate great food, learned a lot of cool history, and got the rare experience of driving one of these cars! Beware, though, if you're not comfortable driving a manual transmission, things might get a little hairy for you! Can't say enough good things. If you think you're interested in this tour, you will probably love it!

I am usually not the type of person who likes taking tours of cities, but when I saw that you get to drive around Florence and the nearby Tuscan hillside in a Fiat 500, I had to sign up! The tour begins in one of the small alleys of Florence (very close to the Uffizi Gallery), in a very cool workshop filled with a bunch of Fiat 500s and Vespa scooters. One of the staff went over the driving procedures, dos and don'ts, and the general information that we required during our tour. Afterwards we met our tour guide (Angel, who was fantastic!), and then we were off in our little Fiat! At this stage, I will point out, that you really should know how to drive a car with a manual transmission. The Fiat 500 is a 50+ year old car and it is NOT the vehicle that you want to learn stick on. That aside, driving the 500 is an incredible experience. It is very mechanical and basic (in a good way). We followed the Angel through Florence and out to the countryside while taking in some lovely scenery. Our first stop was a vineyard where Angel went over the intricate details of the local grapes and wines, and the the history of wine making in the region. Afterwards, we proceeded on to our lunch stop, which was at a private villa a few minutes away. Homemade dishes (pasta, meatballs), along with some wine tasting made for a lovely lunch. The view from the villa is gorgeous, and we also got to take a look at the cooking class which looked very interesting! Our last stop of the trip was San Miniato al Monte, a basilica overlooking Florence. It truly is a beautiful sight to behold! For the final part of the tour we drove down a nice twisty road and entered Florence once again. We dropped the vehicle off at the same place near the Uffizi Gallery. I cannot emphasize how much I recommend this tour! It's a very unique experience and one that you won't soon forget! On a side note, thank you Angel for being such an amazing guide!
