Falsi Gioielli

Playful and colourful false jewels in resin and plexi for contemporary handmade accessories.

The enormously popular boutique was founded by the self-taught Silvia Franciosi, who uses buttons, plexiglass, fabric and thread to create the Falsi Gioielli style that has made a distinctly playful and colourful name for itself. Long necklaces, thick cuffs, floral or vintage button barettes, earrings with a touch of the 80s – Sivlia's collections are references to many weird and wonderful themes ranging from English gardens, deck of cards to futuristic plexi-coloured cuffs or bohemian accessories made entirely out of buttons.

Housed in a minimal all-white store front that only seems to accentuate the colour of the jewellery, you will always find either Silvia or her assistants at the back of the shop busily making the popular necklaces, earrings or hairpieces at any time of the day.

I visited this store from New Zealand in 2009 and have returned to Florence x 2 since and tried to find the store. I had no idea of the name and it has now taken me one year of trawling the internet before stumbling upon it quite by accident last evening. Im sure they heard my cries of delight from Italy. I have ordered more jewellry on line - it is beautiful original and fun

I bought one of their twine and pearl(with a button as the clasp)choker necklaces about eight years ago and it still looks brand new. I receive compliments on it every time I wear it. I remember that it was inexpensive and the owner of the shop was very friendly.
